On the evening of May 9, 2025, the 8th ECAP talk officially took place at Top 10 Pavilion – Con Cóc Garden, Tràng Tiền, Hanoi, organized by ODDO architects under the patronage of Czech Centers. The event attracted a large audience from the fields of architecture, art, students, and the creatively inclined public.
With the theme “A Dialogue between Architecture, Community, and the Environment”, the talk centered on discussions about creative design processes and material experimentation — particularly those materials already implemented in the Top 10 Pavilion 2024 project. It was a valuable opportunity for the public to explore how architecture can generate community value through a combination of modern design and traditional craftsmanship.
Bridging Global and Local Perspectives
The event proudly welcomed three distinguished speakers:
-
Architect Marek Obtulovič – Co-founder of ODDO architects, the design firm behind the Top 10 Pavilion, with extensive experience working in both Vietnam and the Czech Republic.
-
Architect Takashi Niwa – Representative of Takashi Niwa Architects (Vietnam & Japan), known for poetic and context-sensitive projects that resonate with local communities.
-
Craftsman Phạm Minh Đức – Founder of Red River Recycling, recognized for his project repurposing 50,000 plastic bags into a unique roofing system for this year’s Pavilion.
The dialogue between international architects and a local craftsman fostered an engaging conversation around the intersections of architecture, craftsmanship, and sustainability, inspiring a more human-centered and responsible approach to design.
